A city-sponsored Sunday market named after the late Cesar Chavez has opened at Dymally Congressional Park, 3798 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The open-air market operates Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. About 20 vendors offer fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, fish, baked goods, clothing, plants and gift items. The merchants accept food stamps. The number of vendors is expected to increase, officials said.

Chavez dedication--A story in the May 26 edition of The Times incorrectly stated that the city of Lynwood dedicated an access road and a local hospital to honor the late labor leader Cesar Chavez. Only the access road leading to the hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, was renamed in honor of Chavez.

The city also recently dedicated Cesar Chavez Lane--an access road leading to the park--and a local hospital to honor the union leader. The former president of the United Farm Workers died last year.
