Diverse Opinions on Work Force Diversity

Share

I opened your announced special section on “Work Force Diversity” with great expectations. Interesting it was, but what disappointment at the same time.

While your publication does occasionally deal with displaced blue- and white-collar workers--and professionals--your special section completely ignores a large number of the job, or job-seeking, market: the older person, male or female, forced by circumstance to switch jobs or start a new career.

As other minorities, this sector won’t go away, will have to be dealt with and, as yet, still has buying power. After the Gray Panthers, the “spotted wildcats” might rally and mount a campaign--or so I hope.

This may not be the politically correct opinion, but I found your special section on Work Force Diversity (May 16) to be a colossal waste of paper and ink.

Simply treat people as individuals instead of demographic statistics and “diversity” will take care of itself!
