Cathay Pacific Seeking Alliances with Chinese Airlines: Cathay Pacific Airways hasn’t ruled out the possibility of taking equity stakes in China’s airlines, company Chairman Peter Sutch said. He said that in the past, Cathay hasn’t seen the merits of entering into share swap or equity agreements with other carriers. But he added: “I think the situation is different with China and therefore we will certainly have another look at it.” Sutch said that Cathay’s interests could be damaged if a major European or U.S. carrier built a close alliance with one of the Chinese airlines.
