THOUSAND OAKS : Reward Offered for Tips on Shooting
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Ventura County Crime Stoppers for information about a drive-by shooting at a Thousand Oaks party earlier this month.
The shooting occurred about 9:40 p.m. on May 20, in the 1200 block of Sheffield Street. Party-goers were in front of a house when three young men approached and asked where they were from.
When no one answered, one man yelled out a gang name and started shooting, sending the party-goers scurrying for cover. No one was hurt, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kitty Hoberg. But investigators found bullet holes in a truck, and a tire was slashed, Hoberg said.
“All we have is a description of these guys, and it’s a pretty generic description,” Hoberg said. “I think some of the witnesses are a little intimidated.”
Callers to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous and do not have to fear retaliation, Hoberg said.
Anyone with information about the shooting may call Crime Stoppers at 494-TALK.
