Perfect Siding for a Drive-By Society

A new Texas company, prompted by a public fear of random drive-by shootings, is selling bullet-proof siding for city homes.

Customer response has been “unreal,” said Alan Sharp, co-owner of Bullet Resistant Systems Ltd. “We’ve received calls from across the U.S. from homeowners.”

The panels, built with fiberglass, are more commonly used in commercial buildings, especially in jewelry stores, he said. The materials absorb bullets that would otherwise pierce wood or ricochet off brick.

Costs range upward from about $2,000, depending on the number of panels, their thickness and other construction variations, Sharp said.
