TUSTIN : Council to Consider a 2-Term Limit Law
The City Council tonight will consider an ordinance that would limit its members to serving no more than two consecutive full terms.
If approved, the ordinance would be submitted to Tustin voters in the November election.
Also on the agenda of the council session at 7 tonight is a public hearing on a proposed 223-unit condominium complex, which would be constructed adjacent to Tustin Ranch Golf Course.
City staff is recommending approval of the condominiums, which would be built on a 14.6-acre site. According to staff members, the project meets the requirements of the East Tustin Specific Plan.
The City Council is also scheduled to discuss whether the city’s smoking ordinance needs to be updated. The ordinance, which was enacted in 1985, prohibits smoking in enclosed public places and places of employment, except in designated smoking areas.
As part of the discussion, council members are expected to review smoking ordinances approved in recent years by the cities of Anaheim, Dana Point and Irvine.
