Mid-Sized Manufacturers Expect Growth: About 63% of them plan to add full-time employees this year to handle an increasing volume of orders. According to the Grant Thornton Survey of American Manufacturers, 65% of the executives interviewed last month said they expect to see demand rising for the rest of the year. Interviewers surveyed 250 top executives at companies with annual sales of between $10 million and $500 million. Among the findings: 49% are increasing overtime, 42% are hiring extra part-timers and 42% are using workers from temporary agencies for production jobs. Nearly two-thirds of the executives said they expect their companies to make more money this year than last.
