Nation IN BRIEF : NEW YORK : Rifkin Gets Life Term for Killing Woman
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Joel Rifkin was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a woman whose decaying body was found in the back of his pickup, a discovery that led to his claim that he killed 17 women. Relatives of some of Rifkin’s suspected victims were in court for the sentencing, which concluded his first trial. Rifkin, 34, showed no emotion as Nassau County Judge Ira Wexner sentenced him to 25 years to life for murder plus 2 1/3 years for reckless endangerment for the killing of Tiffany Bresciani, 22.
