Hasbro Is Taking Scrabble Battle to Court: The company’s British unit said it obtained a court order to prevent J.S. Spear & Sons, a London game maker with the overseas rights to Scrabble, from being sold to rival Mattel. Hasbro, which owns nearly 27% of Spear, said it holds agreements binding the company to an additional stake of nearly 25%. Last week, Mattel overbid Hasbro for Spear, offering $78 million.
