Golf Club Project May Encourage Growth

Share

* Assemblyman Richard Katz, D-Panorama City, opposes a 355-acre Cosmo World Inc. project with an international golf club in Big Tununga Wash (Valley Commentary, May 29).

I disagree with Mr. Katz. Being a 30-year native of the Sunland/Hansen Dam area, I have witnessed the plight of the dam and the wash. The Hansen Dam area was once nice for a Sunday outing, with family picnics, water skiing, swimming and fishing. It has since been reduced to a mudhole with the annoying roar and dust of the constant excavation.

Assemblyman Katz refers to developers who care little about natural beauty. To him, natural beauty must mean weeds, broken fences, abandoned cars and appliances, along with the use of the roadside as a public dump.

With a project of this magnitude, I see nothing but growth and prosperity for the Sunland area, growth that complements and enhances its equestrian lifestyle.
