Fairchild Pays U.S. in Claims Involving Untested Fasteners

WASHINGTON —
Defense contractor Fairchild Industries Inc. has paid the government $330,000 to settle claims that it sold untested or improperly tested aerospace fasteners--such as nuts and bolts--to the military, the Justice Department said Friday.
Federal prosecutors accused the Chantilly, Va.-based company of failing to meet contractual obligations, said Assistant Atty. Gen. Frank Hunger, chief of the department’s Civil Division.
There were no reports that any fasteners failed.
