The Pacific Symphony has added six new members, chosen after open auditions last month. Amy Sims, a graduate student at USC and concertmaster of the USC orchestra, has been named principal of the second violin section. Douglas Basye, formerly of the Colorado Symphony, is the new assistant principal of the bass section. Daniel Ge Feng, who has been a substitute with the orchestra for two seasons, has joined the first violin section. Yu-Tong Wang, who has played in the Pasadena Symphony, and Chong-Chien Tan, a former student at Cal Arts in Valencia, have joined the second violins and Margaret Henken, a member of the Inland Empire Symphony, has joined the violas. Meanwhile, a spokeswoman reports that the orchestra has narrowed its search for a new concertmaster, a position that has been vacant since July, 1993. An announcement is expected this summer.
