California Amplifier Inc., a Camarillo maker of components used in the distribution of television signals, said its earnings fell 25% on a 30% rise in revenues in the first quarter, which ended May 28.

In the latest quarter, profits were $406,000, compared to $540,000 in the previous year. First-quarter revenues rose to $11.2 million, from $8.6 million in the same period a year earlier.

The company attributed the results to price competition in the market for satellite television products and increased spending for research and development.
