Panel Plans Hearings on Ticket Industry
A House Government Operations subcommittee announced Monday it will hold hearings next month on possible anti-competitive practices in the ticket distribution industry.
Subcommittee Chairman Gary A. Condit (D-Ceres) said he will invite Seattle rock band Pearl Jam and other prominent figures in the music industry to testify.
The Justice Department is now investigating complaints by Pearl Jam that Los Angeles-based Ticketmaster has a monopoly over ticket distribution and used its influence to keep promoters from booking the band’s low-cost summer tour.
