PARIS : Summit on AIDS
Ministers of health from 40 countries will gather in Paris Friday and Saturday to discuss the AIDS pandemic and plan a December summit on the crisis. French Minister of Health Simon Veil said heads of state will be invited to attend the end-of-the-year meeting, which is expected to be the year’s top forum on AIDS.
On the table this week will be topics selected by the World Heatlh Organization and the French hosts, including the need for continuing research on a vaccine and safeguards for blood-transfusion supplies. France is a major center of AIDS research.
