Foreign Share of Japan Semiconductor Market Unchanged: Foreign companies had 20.7% of the market in the first three months of the year, just above the 20% target specified in a 1991 trade agreement between Washington and Tokyo, Japanese officials said. The market share is an area of frequent disputes with the United States. Representatives of the Japanese and American semiconductor industries met in Tokyo last week to discuss further market-opening steps, including trade missions and cooperation on chip design.
