Vice President of Sales at AST Research Resigns

* Gerald T. Devlin, vice president of sales for the Americas for AST Research Inc., has resigned. Devlin, who has been with the Irvine personal computer manufacturer since January, 1993, is leaving to become vice president of worldwide sales for the Desktop Document division of Xerox Corp. A successor for Devlin has not yet been chosen.

* Victor L. Prechtl has been appointed vice president and controller of Fluor Corp., an Irvine engineering, construction, maintenance and technical services company. He was previously executive director of internal audit. Prechtl joined Fluor in 1981 and held various positions in corporate accounting before becoming executive director of internal audit in 1991. Succeeding him will be Dennis Hart, who has been appointed senior director of internal audit.

* Steve Grote has been appointed president of Brinderson Constructors in Irvine, which provides construction services to the refining and process plant industries. Before joining the company, Grote was president of Brown & Root Braun, with responsibility for petroleum and chemical engineering and construction.

* Ara Sagerian has been elected to the board of Satellite Technology Management Inc. in Costa Mesa, bringing the number of directors to six. Sagerian is president of RF Microsystems Inc. in San Diego, which was acquired by Satellite Technology in December. Satellite Technology is a manufacturer of satellite and radio communications products.

* Jennifer Lund has been appointed vice president of creative services for CMA/West, an Irvine advertising agency. She was formerly creative director.

* Jeff Bingham has joined the Santa Ana environmental engineering firm of CH2M Hill as manager of transportation and environmental planning for the Southern California region. He previously managed the environmental services group for Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Pacific Southwest region. Before that, Bingham was with Caltrans for 10 years, most recently as chief of environmental planning in the Los Angeles district.

* Martin A. Klein III has been appointed by Gov. Pete Wilson to the Advisory Council on Economic Development, which promotes California to businesses and community organizations across the nation. Klein is first vice president of investments for Prudential Securities’ Newport Beach office.

* Rand Bleimeister has been appointed to the newly created position of senior vice president, sales and marketing for Virgin Interactive Entertainment’s North American operations. Before joining the Irvine-based company, he was senior vice president for special interest and interactive programming at Columbia TriStar’s home video operation. Before that, Bleimeister held executive positions with Nelson Entertainment, Embassy Home Video, Capitol/EMI Music and Warner Brothers.

* Jack Schember has been promoted to publisher of ResponseTV magazine in Santa Ana. He was previously associate publisher. Schember joined the publication in 1992 as editor and became associate publisher and editor-in-chief last year.
