AT&T; to Unveil New Multimedia Delivery System: AT&T; Corp.’s equipment unit has invented a new way to send interactive multimedia traffic into homes and plans to unveil the new technology today at a news conference with Silicon Graphics Inc. The technology from AT&T;’s Network Systems unit may reduce hurdles for regional telephone and cable television companies planning multimedia networks. AT&T; executives declined to describe the invention, but sources and outside analysts said development of the technology is likely a key factor in AT&T; Network Systems’ recently winning a string of multibillion-dollar contracts from regional Bell companies to build full-service multimedia networks.
