WORLD CUP USA ’94 / THE FIRST ROUND : Spotlight : SENSORY OVERLOAD

Share

U.S. defender Alexi Lalas is playing in his first World Cup and was asked how the experience compared to that which he imagined. The 1992 Olympian said this:

“It’s sort of like the Olympics. It’s impossible to describe, it’s like sensory overload. There’s so much stuff that goes on and it’s impossible to take it all in. What you end up doing is shutting it out and not remembering any of it.

“It’s the same thing that happened at the Olympics. I don’t remember a thing from the Olympics. But as you get farther and farther away from it, it gets better and better. But it’s very hard to take it all in when you’re there. Especially when you are on the field playing.”
