Bar staff called off a three-day strike Tuesday, clearing the way for full service at Dublin’s pubs when Ireland makes its second appearance in the World Cup on Friday.
The strike by 3,000 union workers that closed many of the city’s pubs put a damper on celebrations Saturday when Ireland defeated Italy, 1-0.
Staff, represented by the Mandate union, voted Tuesday to accept a deal that included a 1% pay increase, time and a half for cleanup periods and improved pension benefits.
The union estimated the package was worth $57 for members, who earn an average of $400 a week.
Ireland, tied with Norway for the lead in Group E, will play Mexico on Friday in Orlando, Fla.
