NEAR SALE: Going, going . . . Well, it’s not exactly gone. But the town of Gorman, on the market for $13.6 million, may be sold shortly. A Valley investment company, according to realtor Glen Beer, has made a very serious offer, although he declined to name the firm. . . . But others may still have a shot. Beer said the potential buyer has no interest in a ranch and one of the town’s businesses.

SAUGUS STAR: Listeners to KLOS-FM’s (95.5) “Mark and Brian” program Thursday morning got a chance to hear something the Saugus High student body didn’t--Brad Bjelke’s graduation speech. Bjelke was denied valedictorian honors because the school felt the competition was unhealthy, but KLOS took up his cause (B1). . . . “It was quick, to the point, with meaningful thoughts about life,” said co-host Mark Thompson.

From museums to music, there are plenty of ways to fill summer days and nights. See the special summertime section of Valley Life!

NO WIN FOR WI: Pebble Beach has a new victim, and his name is Charlie Wi. Wi, 22, of North Hills, lost his match in the 83rd State Amateur Championship at the historic Monterey Peninsula course. Wi, who won the event in 1990, couldn’t escape the sand--five bunkers in 15 holes--and failed for the second year in a row to make it past the second round. . . . “I never really got anything going,” he said (C10).

GOING SPANISH: Today’s a big day for Disney’s Latino fans. As announced earlier in the week, Buena Vista Home Video Inc., a Disney subsidiary, will release 10 Spanish language titles, including “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Sword in the Stone.” . . . “There’s a huge Hispanic market,” said spokesman Steven Feldstein, “and it makes good sense to provide something in their native language.”
