*** Colin James, “Colin James & the Little Big Band,” Virgin. In revisiting big-band R&B; in the style of Louis Jordan, the Canadian singer-guitarist sounds as if he’s joy riding in a vintage Caddy. He’s clearly enjoying himself, but sometimes sounds a bit too respectful, as if worried about nicking the paint. Still, his singing is infectious and the band swings like mad.
