Orders for Machine Tools Fall: Orders for American-made machine tools dropped 18.5% in May after reaching their highest level of the year the month before. The Assn. for Manufacturing Technology said machine tool orders totaled $336.85 million in May, down from $413.50 million in April. But orders were up 6.7% compared with May, 1993, and year-to-date orders were 20.8% ahead of the same period in 1993.
