* Bob Boyle has been named vice president and manager of TransWorld Bank’s San Fernando office. Previously, Boyle was assistant vice president and assistant manager. TransWorld Bank is based in Sherman Oaks.

* Mark Mershon has been named president of Triple Check Financial Services, a Burbank-based investment company. Previously, Mershon was regional vice president of the company’s operations in the eastern United States. He replaces James Collins, who resigned last month. Triple Check Financial Service is a division of Triple Check Income Tax Service, also based in Burbank.

* Blue Cross of California, the nonprofit, managed health care corporation based in Woodland Hills, has announced the appointment of Karen Schievelbein as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Schievelbein will be responsible for the financial and auditing departments, and programs that include Medicare and the Federal Employees’ Program. She recently served as regional vice president for finance and administration with FHP International Inc. of Fountain Valley. Previously, she was vice president and controller of San Diego-based Eyecare USA Inc.

Blue Cross serves 5.8 million Californians and is the majority shareholder of WellPoint Health Networks Inc., the largest publicly traded managed health care company in the state.

* Hugh K. Gagnier has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Eltron International Inc., a Chatsworth-based manufacturer of bar code label printers, software and related accessories used in the health care, retail, manufacturing and package delivery industries.

Gagnier, who earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering at USC, previously served as group president and chief operating officer of Wangtek and WangDAT, manufacturers of network backup devices.
