Valencia Firm’s Air Box to Be Used in Germany

Air Packaging Technologies Inc., a Valencia-based maker of inflatable packaging, announced the signing of a three-year contract with Eurocouvert, GMBH, a packaging distributor based in Reinbeck, Germany.

Air Packaging will receive $1 million in the first year of the contract, said Tom Damask, vice president of operations and chief financial officer.

The contract gives Eurocouvert exclusive rights in Germany to Air Packaging’s patented Air Box product. Mattias Baden, president of Eurocouvert, said the company will use the Air Box for packaging wine and electronics products. The Air Box deflates to save space before or after use, a feature that helps the product meet environmental regulations in Germany, Baden said.

Air Packaging, founded in 1989, also manufactures inflatable gift wrap.
