Business / BRIEFLY : Met Museum Shop Opens

Share

The Metropolitan Museum of Art opened a shop in Old Pasadena on Sunday. It is the third such shop to open in the Los Angeles area, and the 14th in the country.

The store, at the One Colorado shopping plaza, features reproductions from the museum’s collection, including cards, calendars, stationery, jewelry, scarves, books, glass and silver.

The store will have a more extensive print and poster collection than the museum’s other shops, and will change themes monthly to correspond with museum exhibits.

More than 2,000 dripping customers took the plunge last month at the opening of Raging Waters’ newest water slide, the four-story Vortex.

The ride hurls visitors at 20 m.p.h. down 270-foot plumes flooded by fog, wind, pulsating lights and electrical storm-like sound effects. The Vortex took 120 days to build and cost about $500,000.
