The government increased security around embassies Sunday following reports that fugitive author Taslima Nasrin was hiding in a Western diplomatic mission.

Nasrin fled her home June 4 when a court ordered her arrest on charges of blaspheming Islam. Muslim fundamentalists have demanded that she be put to death.

The English-language newspaper the New Nation reported that the “‘ambassador of a Western country is harboring Nasrin and defying laws of the host country.” It did not identify the country.
