Renamed ACT Networks to Relocate in Camarillo

Advanced Compression Technology Inc., which manufactures networking products, announced that it has changed its name to ACT Networks Inc. and plans later this month to relocate to new headquarters in Camarillo.

The company, founded in 1987 as a manufacturer of voice compression products, said the name change will highlight its emerging role in developing networking products. The company said its sales doubled in the past fiscal year.

Advanced Compression had been located in Simi Valley, but its leased facility there suffered a collapsed roof in the Jan. 17 Northridge earthquake and has not been repaired, said Melvin Flowers, the company’s vice president and chief financial officer.

The company moved to temporary space in Camarillo after the quake, Flowers said. By mid-month, it plans to move to a larger 50,000-square-foot facility in Camarillo’s Mission Oaks Business Park.
