Coonan Clinical Laboratories Inc.: The Costa Mesa company said it has made a formal application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market an in-home test for HIV. Called HIV-1 Home Check, the kit would be purchased over the counter or through the mail and include instructions on how to collect a dried blood sample. A laboratory analysis of the sample would be performed anonymously. The firm said it has been in the regulatory process with the device for almost three years.
