Tuesday’s Witnesses

Share

Here is a summary of Tuesday’s testimony in the O.J. Simpson preliminary hearing:

* Allan Park, limousine driver. Testified that Simpson did not respond to a buzzer when the driver first arrived to take him to the airport. Just before 11 p.m., Park said he saw a shadowy figure dart across the lawn and into Simpson’s house. Moments later, the buzzer was finally answered.

* Brian (Kato) Kaelin, writer and actor who lived in a guest house on Simpson’s property. Said he was with Simpson until shortly before 10 p.m., but did not see him again until almost 11 p.m. About 10:40 p.m., Kaelin said, he heard thumping sounds outside his window, where a bloodstained glove later was recovered. Also said Simpson told him on the afternoon of the murders that he and Nicole Brown Simpson were never going to reconcile.

* Rachel Ferrara, friend of Kaelin. Said she was on the phone with Kaelin when he heard the thumping sounds. She too put the time at roughly 10:40 p.m.

* Detective Philip L. Vannatter, one of two lead investigators in the case. Testified briefly that when he arrived at Simpson’s home, he learned that Kaelin lived on the property but did not discover until later that he was a guest, as opposed to a renter.

* Detective Mark Fuhrman, the first investigator assigned to Simpson case. Said he jumped the fence to enter Simpson’s property only after spotting what he believed to be blood on a car parked outside, noting the unusual way in which the car was parked and other signs that led him to believe there might be more victims in Simpson’s home.
