Alpha Microsystems: The Santa Ana information technology products and services company said it lost $149,000, or 2 cents a share, for the first quarter, contrasted with a profit of $29,000, or 1 cent a share, for the first quarter of the previous year. The company attributed the loss to increased expenses from investment in new product and marketing programs and from investigating potential acquisition candidates. Revenue for the quarter ended May 29 was $10 million, up from $9.5 million.
