Aircraft Repairs to Cost Chevron $40 Million: The refiner will repair or replace aircraft engines damaged by tainted fuel sold in Northern California, a Chevron Corp. spokesman said. Hundreds of gallons of aviation gasoline inadvertently mixed with heavier jet fuel was distributed to six Northern California airports between May 17 and June 24. The fuel caused pinging in aircraft engines but has not caused in accidents. Chevron said it expects its insurance to cover most of the cost of the repair costs.
