Damaco Moves to Larger Building in Moorpark

Damaco Inc., a producer of lightweight wheelchairs, has outgrown its former Chatsworth plant and moved to a new location in Moorpark.

The move brings 35 jobs to Ventura County, but most of the employees who worked at the firm’s former plant on Plummer Street in Chatsworth will commute to Moorpark, says Marjorie Bantle, Damaco’s corporate secretary.

“We’ll be hiring only five new assembly workers to replace people who decided against staying with us,” said Bantle, whose husband, David Bantle, is the company’s president.

Damaco, which makes powered and nonpowered wheelchairs, purchased a 25,000-square-foot building on Maureen Lane in Moorpark for an undisclosed price.

The company’s new home is twice as large as its former location.
