NORTH HILLS : Ex-Convicts to Teach Crime Prevention
Who better to teach people how to protect themselves from street crime than criminals?
That’s the reasoning of the folks at the Ryan Center, a halfway house for ex-convicts, and the Devonshire Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The center and the LAPD will present a panel featuring Ryan Center residents at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Onion, the Sepulveda Unitarian Universalist Society, 9550 Haskell Ave., North Hills. The panel topic, “How to Prevent: Carjacking, Car Theft, Burglary, Drug Dealing, Armed Robberies and Rape,” will be lead by Les Lovatt, senior lead officer of the Devonshire Division.
The public is invited to the event. Admission and parking are free. For more information, call (818) 894-9251.
The Ryan Center’s goal is to prevent crime by working with the police and the community.
