BUENA PARK : Council Will Review City Budget Today

Share

Council members will review the city’s $37.3-million budget with department heads in an all-day session today.

The city projects deficits of $406,000 in the general fund and $654,000 in the water fund, Finance Director Greg Beaubien said.

“We’re not suggesting any cuts, but we’re also not adding any new programs,” he said. “We’re trying to maintain services at their present levels.”

The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. in the council chambers at 6650 Beach Blvd., and will run for most of the day, Beaubien said.

He noted that the negotiations with city employees are ongoing and the budget may have to be amended. Budget projections call for no pay increases.

Beaubien attributed some of the deficits to a slight decrease in revenue for the general fund, which is down by just under $300,000.

Funds will be taken out of the city’s reserve, which now totals about $3.1 million, Beaubien said.
