HTP International: The consumer electronics maker and distributor said Monday that it has acquired an English manufacturer of high-end stereo components. HTP, based in Anaheim, did not disclose terms of its acquisition of European Design Group of Gloucester, England.

“We are getting into the high-end side of the marketplace with various of our products,” HTP Chairman Paul Safronchick said. “The company is always looking for additional channels of distribution.” By linking with European Design, “we feel we can move more products.”

A veteran loudspeaker design engineer, Terry Apperly, was chosen to head the European design division for HTP.
