NEWPORT BEACH : Councilman Elected Sanitation Chairman
City Councilman John C. Cox Jr. has been elected to serve a one-year term as chairman of the Orange County Sanitation District.
Cox has represented Newport Beach on the district’s board of directors for the past 14 years, where he has served as vice chairman and chairman of the Conservation, Reclamation and Reuse Committee.
Peer Swan, chairman of the Irvine Ranch Water District, was nominated to serve as vice chairman.
The nine sanitation districts provide waste water management services for more than 2 million residents and businesses in northwest Orange County.
