USC Aid for School

In response to your editorial “Public Schools Can’t Deliver Science Education Alone,” July 5:

You’re right, we can’t. But you may be interested to know one of the new things the University of Southern California is doing to foster and improve science education in our community. In response to the recently created LAUSD/USC Math Science Technology High School across the street from USC, former Dean Robert Douglas, Drs. William Weber and Mike Appleman along with other science professors at USC have assisted the new public school in a variety of ways to launch this endeavor to upgrade secondary math, science and technology education voluntarily. Professors do not always need monetary or meritorious awards for research and writing. Some of them just do the right thing because they care!
