A judge has issued an arrest warrant for a 23-year-old Palmdale man suspected of fatally shooting a teen-ager during a July 5 argument outside the Antelope Valley Mall.

Deputies were searching Friday for Adolfo Real Jr., who was charged with murder in a complaint filed earlier this week by Deputy Dist. Atty. John Portillo. Antelope Municipal Court Judge Ian R. Grant then issued a warrant for Real’s arrest.

Real is believed to be the gunman who fatally wounded Efrain Pablo Brito, 16, of Palmdale in what was believed to be the first slaying at the busy shopping mall, which will be 4 years old in September.

According to court documents, Brito was a passenger in a friend’s car looking for a parking space outside the mall on the evening of the shooting. The victim became involved in an argument with three occupants of a white subcompact car, which was pulling out of a space, according to police reports.

Brito had stepped out of his friend’s car to continue the dispute. A passenger then got out of the white car, drew a handgun, waved it at Brito and his friends, then fired at Brito, hitting him in the chest, the report said.

Brito’s friends drove him to Palmdale Hospital Medical Center, where he died.

After interviewing the driver of the white car and showing photographs to one of Brito’s friends, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators identified Real, who uses the nickname “Fo Fo,” as the suspected gunman, according to court documents.
