The Philadelphia Phillies activated Lenny Dykstra and Dave Hollins from the disabled list and optioned pitchers Andy Carter and Paul Quantrill to triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre.

Dykstra and Hollins were in the lineup for Saturday night’s game against the San Diego Padres, Dykstra in center field and Hollins in right.

Hollins, normally a third baseman, left the game in the seventh inning complaining of pain in his left hand. He will have X-rays today to confirm whether he had fractured the hamate bone in his left hand.

Earlier this season Hollins broke another bone in the same hand, but last year broke the hamate bone in his right hand.

“My hand was getting a little tired as the game went on,” Hollins said. “In my third at-bat I felt something like a break in my hand. It’s just a nightmarish season for me.”

The Minnesota Twins activated right-hander Pat Mahomes and designated hitter Dave Winfield from the disabled list. . . . Reliever Gene Harris, who had been pitching for the Tigers’ triple-A affiliate in Toledo on a rehabilitation assignment, was activated from the disabled list. The Tigers placed pitcher Greg Gohr on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 20.
