Theater: Company Searching for a New Home

Share

The Serendipity Theatre, just named the best new children’s theater in the United States by the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, is moving from its home on La Cienega Boulevard.

Until a new site is found, Serendipity, in its fifth season, will be presenting “mini-seasons” of four plays in various venues, including UCLA’s Freud Theatre.

“We will have one of the most important awards a children’s theater can receive and no walls to hang it on,” said Artistic Director Scott Davidson.

Maintenance costs at Serendipity’s home, the Coronet Theatre, were over $100,000 annually--too costly for the small troupe. Davidson said the theater company would prefer to relocate to a donated or partially subsidized space.
