‘Dark Shadows’ to Fall on L.A.

In “Dark Shadows,” Barnabas Collins could look deep into Angelique’s eyes and she was mesmerized--much the same way fans were mesmerized by the TV horror soap of the late ‘60s. When the show vanished from afternoon television, many of the fans remained--much like Barnabas did week after week when the show was on the air, popping up in different centuries despite a stake through the heart (a feat any fan has yet to top).

This weekend, Lara Parker (Angelique) will be among the numerous cast members on hand for the annual Dark Shadows Festival, an expo of memories, memorabilia and fodder for “Dark Shadows” fanatics, such as lost episodes and blooper reels. There will be a ghost story session, costume party (dress as your favorite character) and more. Other actors scheduled to attend include John Karlen (Willie Loomis) and Barbara Steele (Dr. Julia Hoffman) and others from the original (‘66-’71) and the 1991 revival.

Festival hours are Friday 6 p.m.-midnight, Saturday 10 a.m.-midnight; Sunday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. L.A. Airport Marriott, 5855 W. Century Blvd., Los Angeles. Daily $15 or $25 all three days; children 6-12 half price. (310) 641-5700.
