Hyundai Recall: Owners of almost 250,000 1988 and 1989 Hyundai Excels will be getting letters from the company next month asking them to bring their cars to an authorized dealer to repair a potentially faulty heater valve.

Hyundai Motor America, based in Fountain Valley, imports and distributes the Korean-made cars in the United States. The company said it has determined that the valves could malfunction and cause engine coolant to leak into the passenger compartment.

Repairs will be made at no charge to the car owners.
