PLACENTIA : 6 Pick Up Council Candidacy Papers

Share

Six people have taken out candidacy papers for the upcoming City Council election in November. The six potential candidates will vie for the two seats held by incumbents Carol Downey and Norman Z. Eckenrode, both of whom picked up nomination papers.

Among the potential candidates is Dale Goodman, a member of the city’s Advisory Council on the Disabled who is a frequent critic of the council. The former health care administrator was part of a group of people who protested last year’s increase in the utility tax.

Goodman, 51, said she is considering running because the current council is out of touch.

“I don’t find too much in the way of open ears,” Goodman said. “People who come to the podium (to address the council) are not treated with respect.”

Other residents who took out nomination papers as of Thursday include L. Ray Estes, 41, a traffic manager for a warehouse and shipping company; John Hoevers, 34, a senior account manager for an elevator company; and James Itow, 49, a facilities manager for Orange County Superior Court.

The filing period closes Aug. 12.
