Cree Sandefur; Former Head of Seventh-day Adventist Conference
Cree Sandefur, 80, president from 1974 to 1979 of the five-state Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Sandefur received his ministerial training at Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and was ordained in 1941, serving in Iowa, Washington, Pasadena and Long Beach. In 1955, he was elected president of the Hawaiian Mission and returned to Southern California as president of that conference before being named to head the 185,000-member Pacific Union division. He retired in 1979. In Loma Linda, Calif., on Tuesday.
