Marines Deserve Decent Housing

* So, the swells in San Clemente don’t want the grubby Marines to live next to their ritzy houses (“It’s a Marine Landing of Sorts--and the Neighbors Don’t Like It,” July 13).

It is all right for the grubby Marines to fight and die so they can live in their ritzy houses.

* We also live in San Clemente, and I am thoroughly ashamed of those elitist homeowners who would deny Marines equally decent housing on federal property.

We have lived on both coasts and witnessed before this attitude of “after I get mine everybody else can go hang.” It must be some defect of human nature.

Marines serve all of us loyally and deserve the support and endorsement of all Americans, especially from those who are their neighbors.
