ANAHEIM : 63 Arrested in Vice, Narcotics Sweep

A two-day police sweep near Beach Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue over the weekend resulted in 63 arrests for suspected vice- and narcotics-related crimes, police said.

Forty-five men were arrested Friday and Saturday on suspicion of soliciting prostitution by undercover female officers. Police impounded the vehicles of suspects who had been driving during the incidents.

Nine women were arrested on suspicion of solicitation of prostitution.

Arrests also were made on suspicion of selling narcotics, driving under the influence, public drunkenness and driving without a license.

Police launched the sweep because of continuing community complaints about prostitution in the neighborhood.

The two-day task force that conducted the operation was composed of vice officers, a community policing team, reserve officers and members of the Police Explorers.
