SIMI VALLEY : School Board’s Crosse Rules Out New Term

Share

Citing business demands and a desire to spend more time with his family, Simi Valley school board member Doug Crosse said he will not seek another term.

Crosse’s announcement last week came just two weeks after the 47-year-old businessman told supporters that he planned to launch an aggressive reelection campaign emphasizing the need for morals and stricter behavior standards in the Simi Valley schools.

“I have spent the last two weeks in sincere reflection on my reelection,” Crosse said in a prepared statement. “Although I am totally confident that I can win . . . I must be realistic as to what winning could really mean.”

Crosse said he wants to spend more time with his wife and two daughters, and is already strained by the demands of his vending business.

“If I spread myself too thin, something will be neglected,” he said.

Seats held by Crosse and board President Carla Kurachi are up for election this fall. Kurachi has not said whether she will seek another four-year term.

Simi Valley parents Sharon Hushka and Janice DiFatta have filed official papers to qualify for the November ballot.
