OJAI : Man Charged With Not Filing With IRS
The operator of an Ojai geophysical consulting firm was charged Tuesday with failure to file his tax returns, officials said.
Richard W. Van Derck, 48, was charged with willfully failing to file tax returns for 1985, 1986 and 1988, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles.
Van Derck operated a consulting firm named Terranova and was aware of his responsibilities to file tax returns for his income from that business, according to the statement.
If convicted, Van Derck could face three years in prison and a $75,000 fine. Van Derck could not be reached for comment.
