James J. McMorrow; Investment Business Pioneer, Civic Leader

James J. McMorrow, 66, pioneer in the investor relations business as head of the Foristall Co. Educated at Boston College and Harvard University, McMorrow served in the Navy. He joined Foristall’s Los Angeles office in 1952 and represented many burgeoning companies, including Times Mirror Co., which publishes the Los Angeles Times, Hilton Hotels, Denny’s Restaurants and Sizzler International. McMorrow became senior partner of the investment firm in 1967 on the retirement of the firm’s founder, J. Arthur Foristall. An active civic leader, McMorrow served as trustee of the University of San Diego and the Americanism Educational League and was on the boards of Goodwill Industries of Southern California, National Conference of Christians and Jews in Southern California, and the Los Angeles chapter of the National Assn. of Corporate Directors. He also was president of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick in Los Angeles. On July 25 in San Marino of an apparent heart attack.
